Hyung (형) means “older brother” and is used by males to call other males. Koreans use this word to refer to their actual brothers, family members, or friends. While, what is the real meaning of Hyung in BTS?

The realization that Jungkook was no longer a “maknae” (in the world of K-Pop, that’s the youngest member in a boy band) and had been elevated to “hyung”, or “older brother,” status by the TXT[21]  boys made the BTS ARMY all kinds of emotional.

  • – Hyung (형) = Older brother (used by males)
  • – Unnie (언니) = Older sister (used by females)

World in USA, the saying “age is nothing but a number” . But in Korea, it’s a BIGer number which shows a senior level.
